Your private, personalized swim experience is tailored to you and the dolphin as our trainers guide you through a series of interactions designed to build a meaningful connection with the dolphin. During this flagship program, you will experience moments that will make time stand still. Choose a slow or faster paced program, stand on a platform, or swim in deep water. Feel the heartbeat of the dolphin, gaze into their eyes, listen to their vocalizations, and experience various behaviors such as rubs, kisses, swim-withs, cradles, cuddles, and hugs. Due to the personalized nature of the program, the unique guided style of each trainer, and the individual personalities of each of our dolphins, no two Connect to Protect programs will ever be the same. No other facility offers this program!

A thrilling adventure of a lifetime! In this deep-water program, you’ll experience the speed, power, and gentle precision of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins via a variety of trained behaviors. Begin the program with an educational briefing, on dolphin anatomy and biology, marine mammal and ocean conservation, and detailed descriptions of the dolphin interactions. Guided by a trainer, swimmers are then divided into smaller groups, to maximize and personalize each dolphin interaction.
You’ll enter a natural, ocean-water lagoon (10-15 feet deep) while wearing a flotation vest. Take turns to experience fun and exciting behaviors such as foot pushes and dorsal tows and interact with intimate behaviors such as handshakes, belly rubs, and kisses. You’ll also test your skills as a trainer, giving the dolphins hand signals.

Splash and Wade
You don’t need to be a swimmer to enjoy this exhilarating experience. Splash and Wade is an interaction that lets you meet our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins up close and personal, while standing comfortably in waist-deep water. After an informative briefing you’ll be fitted with a flotation vest and stand on a platform that submerges to about 3 feet deep in our natural, ocean-water lagoon. Our dolphins will come to you for interactive behaviors like body rubs, handshakes or kisses. This program is fun and easy for young and young at heart alike!

Private Group Dolphin Experience
How would like to have the entire Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder facility to yourself while you enjoy a private VIP, small group experience with your friends and family? If so, the Private Group Dolphin Experience at DPMMR is for you! This exclusive program, offered once daily, will provide you with stories for a lifetime. Seen as the quintessential dolphin interaction our unique dolphin encounter includes, two personalized dolphin paintings (created by our dolphin artists during your swim), a complimentary towel and T-shirt for each guest, a private tour of our facility, educational briefing about our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, and private swim experience with our amazing dolphin family. Your program also includes a complete photo package of your private experience, preserved on a flash drive. Refreshing, non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for your party during your stay. DPMMR also offers a catered lunch for an additional fee.

Trainer for a Day
Shadow a trainer for a day at DPMMR! This program combines dolphin interactions with a behind the scenes look into marine mammal care and training. Please join us for this unique and exciting educational opportunity!
From swimming with dolphins, to fish preparation and washing buckets, participants work one-on-one with an experienced animal trainer to gain insight into marine mammal care and training. The day is complete with in-depth discussions and experiential learning, encompassing topics such as training, marine mammal care, animal identification, dolphin anatomy and reproduction, marine mammal intelligence and communication, enrichment, and tactics utilized to build a trusting relationship between trainer and animal.
The Trainer for a Day program also includes an 8x10 photo of you and our dolphins to commemorate your experience and a Trainer for a Day T-Shirt. You'll also take home a free book which is supplemental to the knowledge and enjoyment participants gain during this unique program.

Marine Biologist for a Day
Do you want to know more about dolphin behavior and gain hands on marine mammal research experience? Then, the "Marine Biologist for a Day" at DPMMR is the program for you! We’ll start with detailed insight into dolphin behavior from one of our trainers and then begin a longitudinal study of mother-calf interactions! The data you gather will be shared with the scientific community conducting vital research on the maternal and paternal care of marine mammals. You'll learn about sampling techniques, how to effectively acquire scientific data and how to interpret dolphin behavior.
Next up, you'll help prepare the fish and vitamin regimens for our dolphins and learn about what we do to ensure the physical and psychological wellbeing of our beloved dolphins. During the afternoon, you’ll learn about the ongoing research projects at DPMMR, including the assessment of higher cognitive abilities in our dolphins. This research will one day contribute to a greater understanding of dolphin intelligence. You'll also participate in a splash & wade program with our dolphins to learn about their anatomy and receive a one-on-one career guidance session with a staff scientist. There's another part of our job that we're very serious about – having fun with the animals! So, during mid-day feeding, you'll enjoy some playtime with the dolphins from their floating docks, doing belly rubs, kisses, and snapping an 8x10 photo to commemorate your day as a Marine Biologist.
